The Business Model, Plainly
ClearLine Loans is a loan connection service, not a lender. We are compensated by the independent lenders in our network when we connect them with applicants; this compensation is how the service remains free to you. We do not charge borrowers fees of any kind, ever — a party demanding payment from you to receive a loan is committing fraud regardless of what name they use.
What Compensation Does Not Buy
Compensation does not purchase approval, pricing, or placement of offers you receive: each lender makes its own independent credit decision and sets its own terms under its own state licensing. It does not purchase editorial conclusions on this site — the lender comparison page carries no paid placements and links to no one, and the guides recommend against borrowing in every situation where the arithmetic argues that way. And it does not purchase your obligation: receiving offers commits you to nothing, and declining them all costs nothing.
The Lending Relationship
Loan agreements exist between you and the lender you choose — ClearLine Loans is not a party to them. All actual terms, including APR, fees, payment schedules, and consequences of late or missed payments, are set by your lender and governed by your signed agreement and applicable law. Terms vary by lender, state, and applicant profile; not all applicants qualify, and not all amounts, rates, or terms are available in all states. Illustrations on this site — including every table in the rates guide and every output of the calculator — are estimates for education, always accompanied by representative examples, and are superseded entirely by any written offer you receive.
Credit and Reporting Effects
Submitting a request through our form does not by itself place a hard inquiry on your credit file. Lenders may perform soft inquiries to evaluate your request, and the lender whose offer you accept may perform a hard inquiry at that point, as their disclosures describe. Lenders that report payment activity to credit bureaus do so under their own policies — your agreement states whether and where yours reports.
Questions
This page exists so the model never has to be inferred. If any part of it is unclear, the contact desk answers disclosure questions directly, and this page is updated whenever the answer to one belongs here.
